On September 25, 2020 Chess tournament was held among 1st year students of the Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
For many years Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics organizes and conducts annual chess competitions, both among its students, and interuniversity tournaments. The popularity of chess tournaments is growing from year to year and this is no coincidence. At Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics a great importance is attached to sports and sports competitions and, of course, the most intellectual sport of chess, so we have a lot of experience in organizing such events.
Opening the event, director of Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, academician of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdurakhmanov K.Kh. especially emphasized the importance and relevance of this particular sport in the formation and development of harmonious personality. “… Today honorable guest of our tournament is a world champion in chess among juniors, champion of Asia in chess – Vakhidov Shamsiddin Pulat ugli. You will be interested to know that famous chess players have participated in the Chess Tournaments of the Branch in different years. Rustam Kasimdjanov – 17th world chess champion, grandmaster has repeatedly met with our students, as well as 3-time Asian champion, 2-time champion of Uzbekistan, winner of Asian Games and international grandmaster Anton Filippov, members of national team of Uzbekistan Alexander Kasyan, Irina Gevorgyan , Nodira Nodirоanova. The visit of the President of World Chess Federation FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to the Branch is a complete confirmation of this.”
Competitions in the most intellectual kind of sport – chess are organized in the Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics by Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Digital Economy and Finance, Trade Union Committee in the light of the implementation of five most important initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in social and spiritual and educational spheres, in particular, second initiative – physical conditioning of young people, creating necessary conditions for sports.
Chess tournament was held in open space, special area of “PRUE # COWORKING” training center in the open air. The high organizational and sports level has become important stage in further popularization and development of chess among student youth and teaching staff, who, with their chess achievements and active participation, contribute to the implementation of roadmap of Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics on five initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev in social and spiritual and educational spheres.
In chess tournament according to Olympic system, 24 chess players competed, and only 1st year students. The winners of chess tournament are:
Sattarov Aziz – 1st place
Abdullaev Mahmudhodja – 2nd place
Brager Diana – 3rd place
All winners were awarded with certificates of honor and valuable gifts from the management of Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
