Traditional annual Olympiad in mathematics among students was held at Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
In 2020 it was decided to develop mathematics, chemistry, biology and geology taking into the account potential of scientific schools in Uzbekistan, as well as based on national interests and development directions at present stage. This was stated at meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with scientists, young researchers, heads of scientific institutions and production representatives.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that potential of Uzbek mathematical science is highly appreciated in the world, authoritative schools on functional analysis and differential equations, probability theory and algebra are formed in the country, seven mathematicians are members of the World Academy of Sciences.
“Mathematics is a basis of all exact sciences. A child who knows mathematics well will grow prudently and be able to successfully work in any field,” said the president.
The importance of holding various mathematical competitions among students, students and teachers, worthy of encouraging the winners of such competitions, improving the system of olympiads was also emphasized.
Opening Mathematical Olympiad, director of the branch, academician of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdurakhmanov K.Kh. emphasized that last decades have been marked by the development of mathematical methods and introduction of information technology into all spheres of human activity, including economy. Globalization of the world economy and acceleration of socio-economic processes, as part of digitalization, require high level of mathematical culture of student economists. And annual Mathematics Olympiad held at the Branch helps to increase interest in mathematics, development of logical thinking and creative beginnings among students.
“Participation in these intellectual competitions is not only a great honor, but also a great responsibility for each of you representing your university, your knowledge. I’m sure that desire to realize yourself in a particular field of intellectual and creative activity, scientific research will allow to be in demand by society, and your success will contribute to increasing competitiveness of Russian and Uzbek education,” noted K.Kh. Abdurakhmanov.
Participants of the Olympiad were also made by professor, Doctor of Philosophy Aripov M.M. (National University of Uzbekistan). He noted: “… your university has the right to be proud that it was it who was given the honor of holding this event. Organization of competitions allows to identify talented youth and increase interest in mathematics, which plays a key role in the development of all natural sciences. Today in the age of digital economy and technology, having good knowledge is both beneficial and prestigious. Let this intellectual competition become an important event for each of you, and your skills, willpower will help to successfully overcome this line. “I wish you, dear friends, good luck, new discoveries, creative success!”
Participants in the Olympiad were welcomed by head of the department of Ministry of Public Education S.U. Bazarbayev. In his address, but emphasized “… today it’s difficult to imagine our life without mathematics, information technology and digital economy, so the Branch pays great attention to the informatization of education, equipping it with modern technical and methodological means. … You have to come together in intellectual duel to determine the most intelligent student in mathematics. You all deserve this title, because you are already winners in your groups on qualifying rounds. I am sure that the Olympiad will help you find like-minded people and it will be a stage in life for everyone on the way to new victories. I wish you success, innovative solutions and new achievements!”
After the warm parting words of head of the Branch acad. K.Kh. Abdurakhmanov, participants of the Olympiad (students in the amount of 50 people) began to solve proposed problems. 1.5 hours was given to solve 5 complex problems.
After completing final stage of the Olympiad, competent jury will evaluate work, count points and determine winners of Mathematical Olympiad 2020 among students of Tashkent Branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
